A sumptuous velvet red and one of the best ‘reds’ available . It has the classic ‘Dodsworth’ form a structure. Notoriously hard to hybridise, this red iris is much admired, a really striking plant.
The original name ‘Chateau Lafitte’ describes the true depth and intensity of colour, but was changed for legal reasons. Now named after a favourite Lakeland fell that lies between between Ennerdale and Buttermere.
Great as a stand alone iris in a group or in blocks. Brilliant when planted with other ‘Hots’ (Orange/ Magenta/Tan); try mixing with plant ‘Softs’ (Pinks/Yellows).
Bred by Bryan Dodsworth and registered in 1995. 44” (112cm). Standards and falls ruffled brown; beards brown.
Spicey & Aromatic
